Syma s107 -C Review
The Syma s107-C, like all the syma range are robust, easy to fly and just good fun. The s107 is a three channel r/c helicopter for indoor flight incorporating the syma gyro technology, giving beautiful stable flight and total control.
Like all symas in the mini range the s107 features double protection, enabling the aircraft to be powered off when chocked.
The power comes from the usual Li-poly battery a feature of all the syma range. This particular model incorporates a 3.7v 150Mah Li-Poly battery, with a charging time of about 50-60 minutes which allows for a flying time of about 6-8 minutes. Charging is by means of the transmitter or alternatively via USB. The 107 comes aquifer with flashing light's and a search light feature.
In flight the syma s107 reacts to the transmitter with very little movement of the controls allowing anyone of any age and standard to fly this little machine.
All syma helicopters are beautifully put together and are strong enough to withstand the odd bump here and there and the 107 is no exception.
There is a neat little feature of this little helicopter that I will get into a little later.
The dimensions of the s107 are as follows:
So as you can see while the s107 is not big in stature, this versatile little helicopter makes up for it's shortcomings with it's agility and flying ability.
The transmitter for the s107 is as good as any on the market and is very precise giving you total control.
As I said there is a neat little function of this little helicopter and that is the HD camera feature allowing for a unique video recording experience, adding another dimension to this helicopter. The camera does add a little weight to the helicopter, and this does cause it to leap up and drop down a bit more than the standard s107, but this is easy to get use to.
So how do you control this aircraft ? As with all Syma helicopters the aircraft is controlled by means of a transmitter, which also doubles as a charger for the Li-Poly battery. The transmitter is powered by simple 1.5v AA batteries. There are two joysticks one for up and down and one for forwards and backwards.
The transmitter has a few changes as well, the throttle is not spring loaded any longer, you can "leave" it where you want, where the old one would kill the throttle as soon as you took your finger off it, oddly since I'm so used to that, I almost prefer it as you have to remember to kill the throttle now when you feel a crash coming, but I know many will appreciate it. It also has two buttons on either side, one takes a still picture, the other engages video recording. You can see on the underside of helicopter, a small blue light, when the camera is activated, it will turn red briefly for still photos and stay red for video. One point to note the camera only operates when the blades are turning.
You have an on/off switch, two frequency assorted switch (a and b). There is a trimmer on the right side and indicator lights for power and charging. You also have a charging wire beneath a cover in the centre of the unit.
The best way to learn to fly these little aircraft is just get it out of the box and have a go.
The s107 -C is an excellent bit of kit, as with all these micro helicopters, or any model helicopter for that matter, they take a little getting used to but when you master them it's great fun flying.
Spare parts are easily available so any little mishaps can easily be rectified. They come in various colours are straight out of the box ready and all they need are batteries for the transmitter and charging of the inboard battery and away you go. All in all the Syma s107 -C Helicopter is a good buy for any enthusiast. Another popular model is the Syma s108g and you will find others listed on my home page The Syma Helicopter.
